Methuselah

The term methuselah in general conversation today is taken to mean a very old man, possibly incredibly old. According to the Bible (Genesis 5:27), Methuselah lived 969 years, which makes him the oldest figure in the Bible: "When Enoch had lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Methuselah. Enoch walked with God after the birth of Methuselah three hundred years. . . . When Methuselah had lived a hundred and eighty-seven years, he became the father of Lamech. Methuselah lived after the birth of Lamech seven hundred and eightytwo years, and had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine y rs, and he died."
